Picture File Formats

Very briefly, the picture file formats that are used on Lefora are .jpg (JPEG) .gif .png. Other formats can be uploaded as attachments to posts but cannot be seen as pictures on the site.

.JPG files are full colour 24bit images with compression. Depending on the compression level, they can very in size and quality.

.PNG (Portable Network Graphics) are similar but support transparency. The transparent areas can be set using a graphics package.

.GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) are also similar, support transparency and also support animation.
