Need help...

Thanks for accepting the invite and very nice forums. Anyways, I need help with just a few things because I'm really new with CSS and have only done basic HTML. When I was trying to fix up my forums, http://killermovementx.takeforum.com, I did the background right and everything. I've made the sidebars' background color to be transparent, but when I do, there seems to be a white background from the header to somewhere in the halfway line of the page. I changed the "body" part and removed the background, and modified the "#page" part and it looked fine, but there's still a white space between the header and the very top bit of the page. I'm pretty sure it's that half thing with white background that I mentioned earlier that's making it look all weird. Is there like any code for it to be uniform with the rest of the page? Because by changing the "#page" part, I made the background color black, which made me not see anything when I go to my Inbox. I saw that one page you did, with the Eagle background and the sidebars and the main forum nav with the headers all transparent.

Oh ya, how did you get to have your Ads box at the bottom along with the footer?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi there!

Try setting #page {background-color:transparent;}

that may fix one of your problems...

The transparent header etc is a little trick - anything that can take a background colour can also take a background image - set the background colour to transparent and set the background image as a transparent .png file (created in something like Fireworks )

Thank you sooo much. I'll try it now and see what happens. Thanks again. Still a little confused about the trasparent .png file. Like what do you mean? Just make a blank transparent image and use that as BG?

[Edit: Tried it and worked like a charm. Thank you! Umm...as for the ad, how do I move it down to the bottom? And whenever I go to my Inbox or somebody else's profile, the fonts are black as well. How do I change that?]

Create a small coloured square (10px by 10px is fine) and set the transparency to 80% or 90%, depending on the colour/background.

Changing the colour of text and links is a lot more involved. I suggest spending time with firebug in firefox and getting stuck in with some experimental changes to the code... once you get the hang of it, it's easy.

Failing that, you could just take one of my themes and just change the background image in the code wink

I'm moving house tomorrow, so it could be a while before I'm around again - depending on phone lines etc being connected.

Hopefully, I'll get back on here again before tomorrow.

CJO.

Aight. Thanks a lot. I'll have a look at one of your themes. Good thing I caught you right on time :P

If you are running a Private Forum the adds are at the top of the Sidebar. Whereas for a Public Forum they drop to the bottom of it. For why it is that way, it has something to do with arrangements that Lefora has with the Advertisers on the free Forums. So it is not possible to change the placement of the ads with css.

Wow. Thank you. Now I don't have to do my head in trying to figure it out...lol. Thanks. But, this forum is set on private and it's still at the bottom...Or...how do I change mine to public?
